Thursday, April 24, 2003 {work: san bruno, ca} i made new friend[s] today while heating my lunch in the lunch room, i ran into this guy who appeared to be cleaning out an aquarium!(?)! in the sink. he had dropped one of his rocks in the process: me: uh, you dropped your rock... i continued to ask him about the care of the fish. it's real easy - he cleans their home once every two weeks, and feeds them everyday, and on the weekend, they just dont eat. they seem to know that it's monday, because they sit and wait to get fed that morning. when he's away on vacation, he asks other ppl to feed the fish. while my food was in the nuker, we walked over to his cube for me to meet the fish. they were really pretty - one was a blue red color, and the other an orangey gold. gwa then got excited: gwa: cool another person i ask to feed the fish while im away! meeting the little fish made me happy. hmm.. maybe i should get some for my desk. any source of serenity would be nice in the work envirionment... note: for those of you who think this guy is flirting, how wrong you are - gwa is flaming... * 12:17 PM * bernadette * * |

Tuesday, April 08, 2003 {work: san bruno, ca} def poetry i heard from nees last night [via voice mail - since we're busy like that, we leave each other voicemail updates. it's kinda cool cuz whenever we leave each other messages it's like we're talking to each other!] that one of our friends who used to slam in oakland poetry slams was on HBO's russell simmons def poetry jam last friday. it's kind of neat, because when we first met rupert back in 2000, he was an up and coming poet (filipino at that!) who had the most amazing poems. the night we met rupert, i remember nees and i were waiting in line for the bathroom when he came up to us handing out fliers about tourettes without regrets (another of many poetry slams in the bay area). after the slam, we chatted with him further and he realized we were pinays, so he shared with us some of his tagalog poetry. it was a beautiful piece about the homeland! we went to the oakland slam a week or so later, and he read us a poem about how he met us... it was just cool to be an inspiration to a writer and poet. nees is a poet too, although she has never gathered enough balls to read at open mike night. [hello, it's time to do it!] rupert had also written some poetry for nees too. if you get to catch the episode on HBO, nees tells me the poem he performs was part of an earlier piece he had written about her. it's just soo cool to see him come so far! congrats rupert! =D * 10:37 AM * bernadette * * |

Monday, April 07, 2003 {work: san burno, ca} daylight savings im not sure i understand it. why does it occur [yes, i know i can easily look it up, but i admit, im lazy!]? i cant understand this whole "spring forward" "fall back" routine. are we even really "saving" daylight? "spring forward" is the hardest because you lose an hour. what is originally 7:30am, is 8:30am. =P the only benefit is the fact that the sun sets at 8pm. yay for summer! =D * 9:21 AM * bernadette * * |
